Goa is home to sandy beaches, coconut palms, seafood dishes, along with beautiful scenery away from the beach such as rolling green hills, dense forests of mango, javfruit, and cashew groves separated by quite riverbanks.
Goa is unlike other cities in India which allows visitors to embrace the laziness of the sun-filled beaches to a rich history to explore. The best time to visit Goa is from November to February when you will find pleasant temperatures. From June until September it is the rainy season, however, it is still a wonderful time to visit, as the rain is not constant but aids in providing a bit cooler temperatures.
If you want to visit during various Hindu festivals and celebrations then you must book your trip during the months of January, February, and March. In January, the Shantadurga Prasann is celebrated while in February you will be able to enjoy the three-day festival Zatra of Shri Mangesh or wait until March and visit during the festival of Holi called Shigmo.
After you bask in the sun on the sandy beach, you may desire to check out some of the local attractions. A few of the most popular include the Panaji, Old Goa, and Vagator & Chapora.
Panaji is the capital of Goa and is a beautiful city that offers Latin style houses with red roofs, stunning gardens, and the most impressive Laigo do Igreja church square with a white balustrade stairway.
Only a short 8 kms from Panaji is Old Goa which is the spiritual heart of the area. Here you will feel history envelope you as you view the Portuguese churches that stand as landmarks of the history of Christianity in India. Old Goa is home to several wonderful museums such as the Archaeological Museum and Portrait Gallery.
Vagator & Chapora in the beautiful long coastline that is dotted with all kinds of attractions. Big Vagator has several shacks as well as a large beach resort. Middle Vagaor is known by locals at the Tel Aviv Beach. Chota Vagator is the place for action. Here you will find Disco Valley and Party Spot, for you to get down and dance the night away. On the northern end of Vagator, you will see the ruins of Chapora Fort Tower overlooking the Chapora River and beach.
One more beach that is well worth the visit is the Anjuna Beach. The beach is long and is divided into three sections. Here you will find a wide array of things to do from enjoying the various cuisines as the food shacks to visiting the Laxminarayan Temple along with a flea market that has all kinds of treats and fun things to encounter.
