Producing a wide range of wine varieties, the region showcases some of New Zealand’s very best wines, including world famous Central Otago Pinot Noir. There are a number of award-winning wineries in the area with international reputations for excellence.

Queenstown
Amisfield – Queenstowns premier winery, Amisfield, is the perfect spot for a long lunch or dinner with friends. Set back from Lake Hayes, surrounded by mountains the unique scene set here is one you wont forget. Roaring fires inside the iconic stone building make Amisfield the perfect destination in winter, while the stunning courtyard with mountain views is a fabulous place to enjoy a wine and some of the bistro’s internationally acclaimed cuisine over the summer months.
Gibbston Valley – Gibbston Valley is, the ultimate venue offers wine tastings at their cellar door, New Zealand’s largest wine cave, a restaurant, cafe and vintner’s kitchen. For a unique experience a tour of the wine cave is an absolute must. In summer the vineyard plays host to a summer concert. The restaurant focuses on the use of fresh local produce with a Mediterranean flair.
Peregrine – The award winning architecture of Peregrine Winery needs to be seen for oneself. Evoking the wings of a falcon, the unique structure fits seamlessly into the rugged landscapes. The cellar door, located beneath the enchanting building is complete with floor to ceiling windows through to the barrel hall, offering an exclusive view in fitting with the reputation Peregrine has established for its iconic wines.
Bannockburn
Carrick – Located in the heart of Bannockburn, Carrick Winery is a magical boutique venue. Incorporating local produce to match their wonderful wines, dining here is a unique experience. In summer the views over the Bannockburn outlet are simply spectacular. Carrick Winery is the ideal summer spot!
Terra Sancta – There is an alluring quality to Terra Sancta that is simply divine. Available only by appointment, the vineyard staff offer in-depth guided tours of the vineyard. Wander around this charming vineyard and you will not only fall in love but walk away with a wealth of knowledge, and quite possibly a bottle or two of one of their celebrated wines.
Wanaka
Rippon – The exceptional beauty of Rippon Hall, in which the cellar door is located, is otherworldly. With breathtaking views over Lake Wanaka, the striking architecture of the building is worth the visit in itself. The dedicated tasting room is open from December through to April from 11-5, while in January and February picnic lunches are available in the vineyard.
Stay
