
The Climate of Mauritius

The climate of Mauritius is ideal for the tourists since there is little variation in temperatures between the warmest and the coolest months and the weather remains warm, beautiful and sunny throughout the year.
If we glance at the climatic data for Port. Louis, for instance, we find out that Jan. is the warmest month with a high of 86 F (30 C) and a low of 74 F (23 C) while July is the coolest with a high of 75 F (24 C) and a low of 63 F (17 C). There are, therefore no extremes of temperatures and the climate is quite equable.
The total annual rainfall at Port Louis, Mauritius is 50 inches (1270 mm), out of which 68 percent or 34 in. (864 mm) fall in the summer months from Nov. to April and only 32 percent or 16 in. (406 mm) fall in the winter months from May to September. March is the rainiest month of the year with 8.7 in. (220 mm) of rainfall and September the driest with 1.4 in (35 mm) of rainfall. The relative humidity varies from a maximum of 72 percent in March to a minimum of 57 percent in October.
In a nutshell, therefore, Mauritius does not experience any extremes of temperatures and the climate remains warm and sunny throughout the year which is ideal for tourists and holiday makers.
